About the Symposium

The UNC Center for the Business of Health (CBOH) will host its third annual Research Symposium, this year focusing on Smart Workforce Investments: Where to Invest for Healthcare Workforce Success. The goal of the event is to bring experts and leading thinkers together to start a conversation that informs, enriches, and generates new knowledge that can improve practice in the healthcare industry. The sessions will operate under Chatham House Rule in order to encourage thoughtful and objective insights and dialogue.

The U.S. healthcare workforce is undergoing a period of transformation, driven by new technologies that enhance workflows, ongoing expansion through M&A activity, and shifting policies that shape workforce development priorities and scopes of practice. As health systems and investors pursue growth, increased access, and improved workforce efficiency, novel strategies are being implemented to optimize workforce capabilities. This conference will explore the investments being made by various stakeholders to drive success and meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.

This gathering will address key questions, including: Who is investing in the healthcare workforce, and who stands to benefit from these efforts? What is the expected return on these investments, and when can we expect to see the results? Additionally, we will explore the incentives driving these investments and how they align with the broader goals of workforce efficiency, access, and sustainability within the healthcare industry.
